Bricklayer Tim Hakemeyer wins silver at EuroSkills 2023

From 5 to 9 September, the European Skills Championships, the EuroSkills, took place in Gdansk, Poland. The 23-year-old bricklayer Tim Hakemeyer from Hanover (Lower Saxony) won silver in the bricklaying competition. As sponsor of the national team of bricklayers, we congratulate Tim warmly.

After many weeks of training, he went to Gdansk highly motivated with the attitude that he would make it onto the podium - and he was proved right. Overjoyed, he was beaming with his silver medal at the end. "This is really amazing! I'll never forget this day, but now we're really going to celebrate," was his comment after the award ceremony.

Family, friends and also his boss Marc Lorenz from LORENZ Bauunternehmen GmbH supported Tim Hakemeyer on site in Gdansk. Of course, quick-mix, as the main sponsor of the bricklaying team in the national construction team, was also cheering him on. "It is unbelievable with what precision Tim works, even at the highest speed. We are very pleased that his performance has now been awarded the silver medal," says Elsken Herchenröder, Director Marketing Communication Sievert SE.

In the three-day competition marathon, he gave his all against very good competition. Tim Hakemeyer had to erect three workpieces in a given time. The first module showed the lion from the coat of arms of the city of Gdansk three-dimensionally and in different levels in a clinker brickwork. In the second module, the crosses with the crown from the coat of arms of Gdansk also had to be depicted three-dimensionally with different levels. One challenge here was the various diagonal cuts that had to be made. In this so-called "speed module", the speed of execution was also important. In the third module, a large-format flush-mounted masonry made of Poroton bricks had to be created and on top of it a clinker frame with a slope. The clinker frame displayed a flag with the year 2023.
